From Queer Channel Media:
A Portland city commissioner called for an investigation and others asked for a resignation Tuesday after Mayor Sam Adams apologized for his relationship with an 18-year-old man
Adams, 45, admitted Monday that he lied about a relationship with Beau Breedlove, a former teenage intern.
In September 2007, undeclared mayoral candidate Bob Ball accused Adams and Breedlove of having a sexual relationship when Breedlove was 17 years old. At the time, Adams and Breedlove denied having a sexual relationship.
Adams, 45, said he was concerned that people wouldn’t believe him that he waited until after Breedlove turned 18 years old to have sex.
The head of the Portland Police Union called for Adams’ resignation Tuesday.
“The union’s position is that someone who lies, cheats or steals while on duty should not stay employed,” said Sgt. Scott Westerman, president of the Portland Police Association.
So, what then, would Westerman’s position be on whether or not David Vitter should remain in office as senator from Louisiana? Yes, Portland is not in Louisiana, but when we’re being judgmental, why quibble?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not really disagreeing with the heat being dished out to the mayor from the gay blogosphere, pointing out that he’s just feeding the pedophile stereotype – except to the extent that, assuming that what he’s now saying is true, he didn’t actually commit a crime.
But I do wonder if the godly christianists of Gainesville, Florida, will, should he ever visit there, be okay with him using the men’s rooms of their fair city?
I’m just askin’.
(And, not to be catty, but I’m also wonderin': someone named Beau Breedlove in a sex scandal? C’mon, kid; get a non-porn-star name.)
