No, not Rand Paul. I mean THE Doctor – as in Doctor Who.
Irish filmmaker George Clarke thinks he’s stumbled across something rather strange: A film clip from a 1928 Charlie Chaplin film that appears to show a woman talking on a mobile phone.
The image comes from behind-the-scenes footage shot during the premiere of The Circus at Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Clarke noticed that a woman – or what may be a man dressed as a woman – crosses the shot with her left hand held to the side of her head. As she turns toward the camera, there appears to be a small, square, thin, black object in her hand. She’s clearly talking.
I have to presume that this is a gimmick of some sort. There are too many ways to ‘place’ people in old fim footage (Clint Eastwood’s secret service agent? Forrest Gump?) to get too worked up over this. Still, you do have to figure that at some point – unless Milfy McMooseburger does buy the presidency in 2012 and she precipitates nuclear holocaust to fulfill her book of myths – humans are going to figure out how to time travel and that someone who time travels will be sloppy enough to get ‘caught.’
Of course, if you see Ron Silver walking around any time soon, offer him a candy bar.
