Tim Pawlenty: Double-Talking, Lying Coward

When called out on his professed like for Lady Gaga and her contention that we’re “Born This Way,”, right-wing (until the winds change anyway, eh Mr. I-had-no-problem-voting-for-a-trans-inclusive-civil-rights-law-until-someone-convinced-me-that-I-have-a-shot-at-being-president?), cowardly (Hey Tim! Look over there! Its big, bad Mitt! Better change your tune – whatever that tune may be!) Republican presidential supplicant Tim Pawlenty shifted from being equal parts milque and toast to being equal parts milqe and toast and pretzel:

I’m in support of traditional marriage as between a man and a woman. I have not supported the issues of allowing gay couples to have the same benefits and public employment as traditional couples.

So, naturally, all the press about this will be his apparent capitulation to the moonhowlers who run the party whose presidential nod he, for some reason, thinks he actually has a chance to snag on the issue of whether Michele Bachmann’s husband’s business is fraud per se (no, the corporate press will never frame it that way, but that’s what it boils down to, no?).

We all know that as soon as T-Paw started sniffing the Minnesota governor’s mansion – much less D.C. – he began artfully dodging the fact that, as a member of the Minnesota House in 1993, he had voted in favor of the nation’s first legitimate (read: trans-inclusive) statewide gay civil rights law.

And his opposition to gay marriage should be a given.

But now he’s saying that gays shouldn’t even be employed by the government that they pay taxes to support?

P is for Pawlenty.

P is for Pretzel.

When he tries to get out of that one, it will be: P for Permanent Pretzel.

Still, here is actually where it gets really interesting, though.  When corporatist ‘news’ hack David Gregory asked him bluntly if all of this means that he doesn’t believe in being “Born Th[at] Way,” T-Paw laid this egg:

Well, I defer to the scientists in that regard.

Think about that for a second.

A Republican…

In 2011…

Claiming to respect science?

Bwwaaahhhh Haaaa Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

One Response to Tim Pawlenty: Double-Talking, Lying Coward

  1. ValerieKeefe says:

Ah, giving up your principles to win the base… like when the NDP introduces a trans rights bill but lets it die in the senate ostensibly to hold a gun to the PM’s head on sales tax on heating oil, but really so that the party won’t be in the inenviable position of having to call some of their most committed activists and contributors members of a hate-group if the legislation were actually law.

Like St. Barney’s No-non/pre-operative-or-genderfuck version of a “trans-inclusive” ENDA that he let rot last year. As much as I can’t stand the organized right, I look forward to seeing the organized left have seizures trying to square that particular circle.
