Spot the Hegemony

I presumed that the first apologia and/or blind praise for this would come from The John, but apparently Joe.My.God got to the finish line first:

From a documentary still in the works by filmmaker Ryan James Yezak. Hit the link for funding information. Fantastic, so far.

I deactivated the link here – because I doubt that he’d be willing to accept any contributions premised on making sure that trans people are more represented than the (intentionally?) symbolic image of Vandy Beth Glenn sitting in the background while St. Barney yammers about an ENDA that he had no intention of ever pushing anyway.

One Response to Spot the Hegemony

  1. 2nd Class Citizen?

It’s an accurate portrayal of what the real LGBT is all about:

It’s all about Gay Men, Gay People, Gay Rights, Gay Community, Gays in School, Gays in the Workplace, Gays in Media, Gay Marriage, Gays Murdered, Gays in the Military, Gay Politicians, Young Gay Men Bullied to Suicide and It All Gets Better For Gays.

    It’s just so GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

IT’S A GAY WORLD AFTER ALL. NOTHING BUT GAY MEN!

    NO WOMEN! NO LESBIANS!!
EXCEPT TO STAND IN SILENT SUPPORT OF GAY MEN!
Who cares about the rights of women anyway?
It’s the GAY community, damn it!.

Women are never the victims of violence or discrimination.
They never get murdered just for being women or for being lesbians.

Except we need them to vote for same sex marriage and to repeal DADT– because if they vote for it, gay men are free to get married and stay in the military.

    NO BISEXUALS!
THE PLURALITY OF THE LGBT IS BISEXUAL!
BUT DON’T FLAUNT YOUR HETEROSEXUALITY HERE!
They’re supposed to stand silently in the back, contribute money to the cause while having no real power.

AND WHAT ABOUT TRANSSEXUAL & TRANSGENDER PEOPLE? WHO ARE WE?

    WE’RE 5TH CLASS PEOPLE IN A 4 TEAM LEAGUE!
WE’RE SO INVISIBLE & SILENT WE DON”T EVEN EXIST IN THIS VIDEO!

BECAUSE IT’S NOT ABOUT OUR HUMAN, CIVIL & EQUAL RIGHTS!

It’s because us trans people have all the rights we need and
Transphobia and Transmisogyny no longer exist.

Trans people can transition and go to school without fear of bullying or being subject to prejudicial Hate violence.

We can get jobs and work in an affirming environment even while in transition and we need not fear losing their jobs or using a restroom. We can live and function in the world where we can shop, eat out, ride a bus or train, rent or buy a home, receive appropriate and necessary health care and transition treatment with dignity.

And we are no longer targeted for hate violence and murder.
The Transgender Day of Remembrance was discontinued because no longer are hundreds of transsexual, transgender
and gender variant people being murdered for just for being “trans”.

And transsexual women are no longer subjected to the Apartheid exclusion and the hate of Lesbian Separatists.

Now transsexual and transgender people are welcome everywhere by Lesbians and Gays who respect us and even let us have a voice and positions of power and influence in our community!

There is no longer a need for any laws like ENDA!

So now we can concentrate on the most important people.
Gay Men and their Human, Civil and Equal Rights.
Same sex marriage. The End of DADT and Anti-Gay Bullying.

It’s not LGBT, it’s not even GLBT. It’s just so GAYYYY!

And who needs Lesbians, Bisexuals or Trans People anyway?
