Why Psycho-Right Rhetoric Matters

Half-Term Paul Scott has lost his bid for the Republican nomination for Michigan Secretary of State.

State Rep. Paul Scott fell short in his bid to win the Republican nomination for secretary of state — now he says he’s focusing on winning re-election to the state House.

Scott, R-Grand Blanc, finished fourth in the five-person race with 335 votes.

And yet he won nevertheless…

assuming, of course, he actually wants whoever might happen to hold the position of Michigan Secretary of State – Ruth Johnson perhaps – to unilaterally snuff out the state’s transsexual birth certificate statute.

Michigan Secretary of State candidate Ruth Johnson really wants to make it known that she is at least as homophobic and anti-LGBT as her opponents, according to the Michigan Messenger:

Johnson Republican candidate for Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has issued a statement denying support for lesbian, gays, bisexuals and transgender people and disavowing her 2002 endorsement by the statewide gay rights group Triangle PAC.

In a move meant to match the political stance of opponent Rep. Paul Scott of Genesee County, Johnson also issued a statement saying, “No I do not support allowing people to change their gender on their license as a result of surgery or lifestyle.”

For, you see, Johnson came in first.

Because no candidate finished with the required majority of votes the first time around, delegates hadto vote a second time in a run-off election between the top twovote-getters: Johnson and state Sen. Cameron Brown. Johnson ultimately finished with 1,089 votes.

Scott, a 28-year-old first-term lawmaker, said he was disappointed in the loss, but proud ofhis campaign.

And why shouldn’t he be?

He pushed everything to the right by grabbing the political football manufactured with the skin of rhetorical pigs slaughtered by the 1970s radical anti-transsexual lesbians, stiched with the acquiescence of Barney Frank and hiked to the teabagging christianist neo-right by the multi-pronged fraud of Michael Bailey and Alice Dreger.

I guess the only question remaining is: When will Lisa Vogel officially endorse Johnson?
